Last issue I teased you about two (2) items forthcoming this month. Alas, I have fallen down on the one count, the biography or profile of the new coordinator of the Survey Technology program at CCBC, Scott Jeffrey. I hope to do better next time on this item.

However, on the other item things are coming together. As part of our celebration of National Surveyors Week, we will formally dedicate and commit to public use an EDM calibration baseline along the Western Maryland Rail Trail in Hancock Maryland. DLLR Secretary Kelly Schulz will present a formal proclamation from the governor declaring the observance of National Surveyors Week in Maryland. We will be dedicating the baseline to the memory of former MSS President Ralph Hanks Donnelly, with the able assistance of Ralph’s grandson, Hank. Come celebrate with us on Friday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m. and share your support for the MSS, for National Surveyors Week, and for Ralph.

The ceremony will take place at the extreme western end of the baseline adjoining the parking lot at Hancock Station of the Western Maryland Rail Trail. This lot is in the 0-100 block on the south side of West Main Street (MD 144) near the Rescue Squad station. Set your navigation system for 42 West Main Street, the location of the Hancock Town Visitor Center and look for the parking lot on the opposite side of the road. In the event of rain, the alternate location is the Hancock Town Visitor Center at 42 West Main Street.

Finally, once again I note: This is your newsletter. If you or your chapter have anything of note that might interest or instruct our membership, please send it to Ebonique or to me so that we can get it published.

Until next time,
