Contested Election for MSS Board Secretary

The Nominations Committee has recommended Eric Cooper and Donald Mason as candidates for the position of MSS Secretary and this was accepted by members present at the General Membership Meeting held May 8 in Frederick, MD. The election will take place between June 15th and July 15th.

Eric V. Cooper, Prof. L.S., is a graduate of Frostburg State University and a 2nd generation surveyor from Charles County, MD. He became licensed as a Maryland Professional Land Surveyor in 2006 and has maintains licensure in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. He is Director of Land Surveying at Wallace Montgomery in Hunt Valley, MD and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the survey and photogrammetry departments. Mr. Cooper has been active in the MSS through the workforce development initiative and has spoken on “drone technologies” and ‘Pin Cushions” at MSS conferences. 

Donald Mason, Prof. L.S., P.E., is the co-owner of Benchmark Engineering, Inc. an Engineering and Land Surveying company located in Ellicott City, MD which was established in 1998. He has been Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland since 1995 and Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Maryland since 2007. His career began in 1980 when he was hired by a Civil Engineering firm as a draftsman and he has worked within the profession ever since doing all aspects of Engineering and Surveying in the land development field. Mr. Mason has held the position of Chapter Chair for the Howard County chapter of the Maryland Society of Surveyors from 2010-2016 and currently holds the position of Vice Chair with that chapter.
