Hundreds of Frederick County middle schoolers got a taste of potential science and technology careers Wednesday.

Frederick Community College’s 11th annual Future Link STEM Career Conference introduced more than 1,000 area seventh-graders to professors and professionals from the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

“They’re exposed to some of the best scientists and specialists in the area in the STEM-related fields,” said Lisa Freel, the college’s director of admissions.

Bioprocessing technology professor Judy Staveley presented on potential careers in biotechnology and forensics. TJ Frazier and Rob Kundrick of the Maryland Society of Surveyors demonstrated robots and modeling software used in surveying jobs.
