Baltimore County Land Survey Division is pleased to announce the launching of its newest version of the "Survey Control" web site. Baltimore County currently has over 29,200 markers, established throughout the county since the early 1900's. In July 1999, Baltimore County switched from its old system (BCMD/BCD) that it had shared with Baltimore City to the Maryland Coordinate System (NAD 83) and NAVD 88.

There are currently 19,452 of the BCMD traverse stations and 2,184 of the NAD 83 traverse stations available on the web site. There are currently 6,768 BCD bench marks and 816 of the NAVD 88 bench marks on the web site. We continue to set additional NAD 83 markers and NAVD 88 bench marks throughout the county and include them into the web database.

View New Website

At the top of the page you will see the link “Survey Control application” to launch the application. Click on the link and the application will open and give you have access to all the control station information. Once in the application use the “Survey Control - Instructions” button in the top right corner of the page, to access the User Guide (see the screen shot below) as well as to open an email link to submit recovery information. This will allow you to report the station’s condition to us (e.g. destroyed, could not find, recovered in good condition, etc.), which would be posted on the web site for the next user to see, as well as email pictures of the current site conditions at the station.

The User Guide can be viewed or downloaded from the web site to help you navigate the new application. The new application uses the County’s “My Neighborhood” interface with the Survey Control functions added in a user-friendly format.
