Maryland Society of Surveyors Educational Trust

The Maryland Society of Surveyors Educational Trust (MSSET) was established in June of 1999. The purpose of this Trust is to devote and apply the Trust Funds, including any income derived therefrom, exclusively for the following educational purposes:

To promote the study and research in the field of land surveying and the diffusion of knowledge thereof; and
To improve, promote and facilitate the advancement of the profession of land surveying, and the continuing education of surveyors; and
To create scholarships or loans to assist qualified and deserving individuals in securing education necessary for a career in surveying, and to improve, encourage and enhance higher educational opportunities for individuals desirous of becoming licensed professional land surveyors by offering financial assistance as grants or loans to deserving students; and
To expend funds for any and all other purposes for land surveying education support to duly accredited schools, colleges, universities, and faculty support.

To fulfill that purpose, the Trust offers financial grants to deserving individual in varying amounts based on need. It also offers three (3) scholarships; The Fred and Joan Ward Scholarship, the Draper and Dottie Sutcliffe Scholarship, and the Travis W. Bond Scholarship. These scholarships range from $1500 to $2500 based on the need of the individual.

The Maryland Society of Surveyors Educational Trust (MSSET) is a 501(c)(3) public charity and all contributions are deductible to the extent that the law allows.

However, in some instances, subject to approval of the MSSET Board of Trustees, funds may be used for education-related expenses such as text books, required equipment and lab fees.
